Top 10 Tuesday: Places in Books I’d Love to Visit

Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday! This is a weekly challenge hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and this week’s challenge is about places in books I’d love to visit!

It was initially places I’d love to live, but I changed it to visit because, well, I’m a homebody and I don’t really want to move anywhere far away (not permanently at least). It was so difficult to choose for this one! There are so many book settings I’d love to visit for a short amount of time, and it was fun to reminisce on all of the great places books have helped me travel to. Without further ado, here are my top ten choices for places in books I’d love to visit (in no particular order)!

1. “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott

Little Women (Puffin in Bloom): Alcott, Louisa May: 8601416366470: Amazon.com: Books

Genre: Classic

I just really want to visit the home of the March sisters and be a part of their family for a few days!

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE and you can find my review HERE.

2. “Call Me by Your Name” by Andre Aciman

Amazon.com: Call Me by Your Name: A Novel (9780312426781): André Aciman: Books

Genre: Romance

That small Italian town just sounds so wonderful and relaxing, I’d love to visit there and eat yummy Italian food! Maybe no peaches though…

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE.

3. “From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home” by Tembi Locke

From Scratch | Book by Tembi Locke | Official Publisher Page | Simon & Schuster

Genre: Memoir

This is another Italian setting. I’d really love to travel to Italy (and especially Sicily) and eat all of the delicious food! It sounds like such a beautiful country.

4. “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Tracy Chevalier

Amazon.com: Girl with a Pearl Earring: A Novel (9780452282155): Chevalier, Tracy: Books

Genre: Historical Fiction

I’ve been to The Netherlands before, but only to Amsterdam! I’d love to visit some of the smaller towns and cities. Try out the food, visit museums, frolic in tulip fields…

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE.

5. “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline

Ready Player One: A Novel: Cline, Ernest: 8601400490631: Amazon.com: Books

Genre: Science Fiction

This is definitely not a world I’d want to live in, but I think it would be fun to visit for a short period of time and check out all of the advanced VR technology!

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE and you can find my review HERE.

6. “Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine: A Novel: Honeyman, Gail: 9780735220683: Amazon.com: Books

Genre: Realistic Fiction

I really want to go to the UK! Especially to Scotland. As far as I can tell from pictures, it’s absolutely beautiful, and I can’t wait to go there someday and explore!

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE.

7. “Howl’s Moving Castle” by Diana Wynne Jones

Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Castle Series #1) by Diana Wynne Jones, Paperback | Barnes & Noble®

Genre: Fantasy (Middle Grade)

The setting that Jones created in this book is just so whimsical and magical, and I think it would be so much fun to visit there! Well, as long as I don’t run into any evil witches who try to turn me into an old lady…

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE and you can find my review HERE.

8. “What Alice Forgot” by Liane Moriarty

What Alice Forgot: Moriarty, Liane: 9780425247440: Amazon.com: Books

Genre: Realistic Fiction

This book is set in Australia! Honestly, I’m a little nervous to visit Australia because it seems like there are a lot of big bugs, spiders, and snakes… But I think I could be brave enough to visit for a few days? It definitely seems like a really beautiful place.

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE.

9. Anything by Sarah Dessen

Amazon.com: Along for the Ride (9780142415566): Dessen, Sarah: Books

Genre: YA Fiction

Many of Sarah Dessen’s novels take place in small, idyllic beach towns on the East Coast during the summer. They just seem so quaint and quirky and wonderful, and I’d love to visit there someday! I’m sure there are similar towns in real life that I could visit on the East Coast!

You can find Sarah Dessen’s website HERE.

10. “Jurassic Park” by Michael Crichton

Amazon.com: Jurassic Park: A Novel (9780345538987): Crichton, Michael: Books

Genre: Science Fiction

Okay, so I would never actually be brave enough to visit this park. And I think the whole idea is ridiculous and dangerous and should never happen in real life. That being said, if it did exist and it was actually safe, it would be pretty incredible to get to see actual dinosaurs!

You can find the Goodreads synopsis HERE.

Have you read any of these books? What would your top ten be?

Let me know in the comments!
