Top 10 Tuesday: Book-to-Movie Adaptations I Want to Watch

Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday! This is a weekly challenge hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and this week’s challenge is about book-to-movie adaptations that I want to watch!

The original prompt for this week was about books to read if you loved a certain other book (or movie, show, etc.). However, I had a hard time wrapping my head around that one. So instead, I decided to think about some of the books I’ve read in the last few years that also have been turned into movies. For whatever reason, ever since the pandemic started I’ve kind of lost interest in watching TV and movies, so I’ve gotten really behind on my list of movies that I want to watch. But I would really like to get to these soon because I’m really curious to see how they were adapted from the books! Without further ado, here are my top ten book-to-movie adaptations that I want to watch!

1. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

I absolutely adored this book, and I’m so curious to see the most recent movie adaptation of it!

2. The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate

I also really enjoyed this book. It was so cute, and I’m curious to see how Disney adapted it.

3. The Green Mile by Stephen King

The first and only Stephen King book I’ve ever read! I’ve caught parts of the movie when it’s played on TV before, but I’d really like to watch the whole thing at some point.

4. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

This book was so dark and twisted, and I’ve heard the movie maintains this mood. I think I remember hearing that the movie changed the ending, though, so I’m really curious to see what other changes they made.

5. Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

While I didn’t hear great things about the movie, it has a great cast and I just loved the book so much that I still want to see it anyway!

6. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell

I have mixed feelings about the book, and I’ve heard mixed things about the movie… But it’s just such an abstract concept that I can’t help but be curious to see how they adapted it for a movie format.

7. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I loved this book, but I actually don’t remember ever hearing much about the movie! I recently saw that they’re making On the Come Up into a movie as well, so I’d really like to see both of those.

8. The Color Purple by Alice Walker

It’s a classic novel and I think the movie is considered to be something of a classic as well. I know both the book and the movie came out quite a while ago, but they’re new to me and I’d really like to see the movie.

9. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

This is another one that I remember hearing the movie wasn’t too well-received, but it has a great cast and I loved the book, so I’ll definitely be trying to watch this one soon.

10. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

I actually didn’t love this book, but maybe this is one of the rare instances in which the movie is better? I’d be curious to see what changes they made, and if those changes made any improvements for me.
