Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday! This is a weekly challenge hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and this week’s challenge is about my top ten books of 2022 so far!
The original prompt for this week was about our most anticipated books releasing in the second half of 2022. However, I don’t really pay that much attention to publication dates of future books unless it’s for a book in a series that I’ve been waiting for. Most of what I read is usually several years old by the time I get around to reading it! Therefore, since we’re now about halfway through the year, I thought I’d instead reflect on my reading this year and highlight my favorites so far. Without further ado, here are my top ten books of 2022 so far (in no particular order)!
To learn more about a book, click on the photo to find the Goodreads synopsis.
1. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Such a magical and captivating story.
2. The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I had been putting this one off for so long, but once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down!
3. Becoming by Michelle Obama

An inspiring and uplifting story narrated beautifully by Ms. Obama herself.
4. Coraline by Neil Gaiman

A dark, creepy, and captivating story. This children’s book really packs a punch (with the Other Mother’s creepy, claw-like hand)!
5. A Single Swallow by Zhang Ling (Translated by Shelly Bryant)

Such a unique and beautiful story.
6. Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe

Informative and eye-opening.
7. Call Your Daughter Home by Deb Spera

A great work of historical fiction! I loved the stories of the three very different women at the heart of this book.
8. Island Queen by Vanessa Riley

A powerful story based on a real-life powerhouse of a woman.
9. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

Dark and gripping, it’s a classic for a reason.
10. Cajas de cartón (The Circuit) by Francisco Jiménez

An eye-opening story told from the innocent eyes of a child.
I’m curious to see which of these will still make my Top Books of 2022 list at the end of the year! They’re definitely all solid contenders.
Have you read any of these books? What would your top ten be?
Let me know in the comments!
I struggled with this week’s prompt as I could only think of a couple off the top of my head. It is really hard to find publication dates! I also have to factor in that I am in the UK and so dates differ!
I want to read Coraline – just need to find the time!
Have a great week!

That’s a good point! I didn’t think about how publication dates differ by country.
Coraline was really good, and a quick read!

Yeah. It’s very confusing. I’ll go to get a book and a) it has a different cover and b) it’s not published here 🙄
Excellent 😊

I enjoyed The Help when I read it a few years ago. The cover for Island Queen is stunning! And I have Gender Queer on my TBR.

Becoming was such a wonderful read. The audiobook version was fantastic, too.
