Top 10 Tuesday: The First 10 Books I Randomly Grabbed from My Shelf

Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday! This is a weekly challenge hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and this week’s challenge is about books I randomly grabbed from my shelf!

To be completely honest, I’m kind of weird about taking books off of my shelf unless I’m about to read them. It’s (one of the many reasons) why I could never be a successful bookstagrammer: taking multiple books at a time off my shelves just for a post or a photo just feels wrong to me. Does that make any sense? No? Oh well! It’s just one of those weird things that I’m particular about. However, my husband made me this amazing spreadsheet to track the books on my shelves. It tracks all sorts of data including whether or not I’ve read a book, how many pages a book has, genres, and much more. One extra special thing he designed for me, though, is a button on this spreadsheet that randomly generates a book that I haven’t marked as “read” yet. He made this so that I could randomly select a book from my TBR if I ever needed help deciding what to read next! And I figured this was the perfect opportunity to use that button! Without further ado, here are the top ten that were randomly generated from my TBR!

1. The Hummingbird’s Daughter by Luis Alberto Urrea

2. Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

3. The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin

4. Letter to My Daughter by Maya Angelou

5. The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo

6. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

7. I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys

8. You Changed My Life by Abdel Sellou

9. Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan

10. Miracle Creek by Angie Kim

Have you read any of these books? What would your top ten be?

Let me know in the comments!

  1. Despite all of the praise Ruta’s books receive, I’ve never read one. They always seem really dark, too, so maybe not my cup of tea. Sounds like you had a really easy way to choose the ten random books. 🙂

  2. I just made myself a similar spreadsheet it made me feel so organised and accomplished. 😂 I also had I Must Betray You on my stack today! I’ve got a few others on here on my TBR too and I can’t wait to read them. Great list!

  3. How awesome that your husband designed a special spreadsheet for you. That’s true love right there! I’ve read three of these: I MUST BETRAY YOU, MIRACLE CREEK, and NINE PERFECT STRANGERS. The first is the best of them in my opinion. Sepetys’ books are always well done. I really like Moriarty, too, but this one isn’t my favorite.

    Happy TTT!
