I’m definitely feeling a little burned out as we head into June, but I’m ready to finish the school year strong! Something that really helped me get through the last month was all of the great books that I managed to read. Top 10 Tuesday: Books with Nature on the Cover

This was such a fun prompt! At first, I was trying to think of books with flowers or greenery on the cover. But then I realized that nature could mean so many different things! I had so much fun scrolling through my “Read” shelf on Goodreads looking for beautiful depictions of nature. So, here are my top 10 in no particular order!

Did March feel really long to anyone else?
I’m experiencing some big changes in my job, and I think the stress just felt never-ending this month. But oh well! It’s a new month full of new opportunities and new books! Change is always scary but I’m hopeful it’ll lead to some positive things.
Unfortunately March wasn’t my greatest month of reading. My stress led to more TV and videogame time than usual, and there were even two books I DNF (did not finish), which literally never do. I hate giving up on a book before finishing it, but I realized that I deserve to read books I enjoy, and it’s not worth it to spend time reading something that I dread (or end up not reading at all because I dread it that much).
I think part of the reason I wasn’t super thrilled with my March picks was that I chose to focus on middle grade books this month. I took many books home from my classroom to read during quarantine, and I want to be able to read and return them to my classroom before the end of the school year. While I love middle grade books, I tend to get a little restless when I read too many in a row.
I’m excited for my April reads though! I’m planning on reading the next book in the Uglies series (which comes out in less than a week) and I’m also hoping to read The Glass Castle. Other than that, I plan on just reading whatever I’m in the mood for!

Top 5 Saturday: Books with Fire on the Cover

I struggled again with this one! Maybe it’s because I can’t tell from just the spines, and I typically don’t like to take books off my shelves unless I intend to read them? Or maybe I just haven’t read many books with fiery covers! However, I did manage to scrape together a list of five books with some fire on the cover. So, in no particular order, here they are!
Top 10 Tuesday: Spring Cleaning Freebie

This was such a fun and open prompt! I had to think for a while about how to approach it because there are so many books I want to read, but I don’t ever set a specific TBR (I like to set general guidelines for myself, but then ultimately pick whatever I’m in the mood for). Therefore, it was hard to narrow it down to just ten that I’m hoping to get to read soon.
In the end, I decided to focus on children’s books. I’ve brought many books home from my classroom library to read while teaching from home. I figured this would be a good opportunity to actually read some more of the books that I provide for my students! And since it’s possible we’ll be going back to an at least somewhat in-person model this spring, I would like to have most of them read so that I can return them to my classroom. So, here are my top 10 children’s books that I’d like to read this spring (in no particular order)…

This was another hard one for me! I don’t know why I’ve been struggling so much with these lately. For this one, I read a lot of children’s and young adult books, and frequently the adults in these books are teachers since school is such an important part of adolescence. However, I can’t pick those because I already am a teacher! For this one, I decided to be pretty flexible with the prompt. I don’t have the skills to do the majority of these jobs, but if there is any aspect of the job that I like then I decided to include it in this list. With that being said, here are my top ten (in no particular order)!

This one was hard for me! I don’t read a ton of “funny” books. I’m sure many books I’ve read have gotten a laugh out of me at some point, but it’s not what I remember about them. For that reason, I decided to focus on children’s books for this prompt! The adult books I read tend to be a little heavier, but I also read many lighthearted children’s books for my job. Interestingly, all but two of these I actually read as an adult, which means they’re fun and enjoyable for people of all ages. Therefore, here are my top ten children’s books that made me laugh out loud…
